Tom Walsh

Tom Walsh was born in Midleton, County Cork. He left school at 16 (having won many children's art awards) to work in a factory. He had his first solo exhibition in Cork in 1976 and has been exhibiting ever since. Tom works primarily in watercolour. His distinctive style is self-taught and his unique images are the result of his wanderings in local towns and cities, observing the place and people and making on the spot sketches of scenes that catch his eye.

His work is shown extensively in Ireland, including solo shows at the Frank Lewis Gallery, Killarney, the Solomon Gallery, Dublin and The Lavit Gallery (his solo show at the Lavit Gallery in 2000 being a sell-out.) His work is included in the art collections of Jury's Hotel (Cork and Dublin), the AIB Bank and the Conrad Hotel (Dublin). His work has also been commissioned by many, including former President Mary Robinson, and is held in many private collections.
